Book posts this week
Novels were Death on the Marais by Adrian Magson (rural France in the 1960s and murder most ugly) and Cold Rain by Craig Smith (ugliness of people in contemporary Midwest unusually combining academia and used car salesmen).
Treblinka: A Survivor’s Memory is the late Chil Rajchman’s account of his ten months at this Nazi death factory and his escape, published for the first time in English by MacLehose Press.
Crime drama
Crime dramas coming up on TV include Sophie Hannah’s Case Sensitive on ITV tomorrow night for two nights and Ann Cleeves’s Vera starting on ITV tonight.
We should be celebrating ITV’s interest in crime drama, and especially its selections with women in serious main roles, as BBC1 Controller Danny Cohen is trawling the bottom of the bucket for reasons for dropping Michael Dibdin’s Zen.
And thanks to all who are reading and commenting on these posts.
