1. There are four Vera Stanhope novels written by Ann Cleeves and four episodes in this series. But is there is difference and if so, what?
Series 1 of ITV’s Vera featuring Ann Cleeves’ character, Vera Stanhope, has four episodes. The first three are adapted from, (although screened in a different order), the first three novels written by Ann Cleeves: The Crow Trap, Telling Tales and Hidden Depths. The fourth is an original script written by Paul Rutman, who has also written for Lewis and Miss Marple. The fourth Vera Stanhope novel, Silent Voices, was only published on 4th February 2011, after the first series had been filmed.
2. Why you feel you deserve this gorgeous set.
I would love to have this set to give to my mum, Annie. She is from the North East and pointed out places to me when watching the episode – the caravan park was where she used to holiday as a child and many of the places bring back happy memories for her whilst she was gripped by this gritty drama. She is due to go into hospital on 1st June for a hip replacement and will not be able to go “up North” this summer to visit family and friends, these novels will provide her with an escape from the discomfort following her operation whilst connecting her to familiar surroundings she will be missing. She is originally from Seahouses and the family are all around Berwick, Alnwick and Warkworth areas.

The first three novels have been adapted for the first three episodes. The last episode, Little Lazarus, is written by the adaptor of the first two episodes, Paul Rutman. It is not an adaption of the new fourth book in the series, Silent Voices.
I have recently retired. Upside is having time to explore new authors, downside is limited income to expand my library.

I have already read the Vera novels so don't need to enter, but just to say, what a great competition and prize.

Ehm, I think something went wrong in that first question.

Although there are four books and four episodes, The last episode in the series is not based on the last book or any book in the series.
I would love to win the books because I enjoyed the first tv series and would love to read the books it is based on.
