Two Summer Reads from Macmillan

I've not had the chance to read either of these yet but thought I'd mention them, just in case you miss them.

First up is James McCreet, debut author of The Incendiary's Trail which was published by MNW at the beginning of July.  This one is gas-lit noir and early-Victorian in setting.  I bumped into the delightful James at Harrogate and he offered to answer any questions, scrawling his email addy in my notebook.  So if you do some research and want to know more, you know where to come.

With murder rampant in London, Detective Inpsector Newsome decides to enlist the help of a recently apprehended master criminal to see the culprits brought to justice.  The novel in hardback, is an unusal size and shape with an attractive cover.

Second, from Pan Books, is Katherine Howell's second novel The Darkest Hour featuring Aussie Detective Ella Marconi, who first appeared in Katherine's debut novel Frantic which I rather enjoyed.  Katherine's novels are pretty original as they draw from her previous profession in the paramedic field.  In paperback with some 491 pages, it makes for easy packing and a decent number of hours of entertainment.
