... and because these really are quickies; the latest digested reads from the sharp and witty John Crace in the Guardian:
- Hannibal Rising from Thomas Harris - A much anticipated novel, an event in the crime fiction world, perhaps; but Crace's conclusion is that "Hannibal smiled. He had got away with his greatest crime to date. A bestselling thriller with no thrills at all."
- The Book of General Ignorance - Crace captures the essence of the festive gift book market. All for money and not even one reads...
- Neris and India's Idiot-Proof Diet Book - Two Fat Gluttons Slim? (My words, not his. But Crace is on the marketing case...) However, I stand aside and will try to remain objective as I've just ordered this book. Two women who lose 10 stones (140 lbs) between them, in the course of one year has to be an inspiration, doesn't it? I'll let you know what I think, this time next year.
Each and every digested read is a wonderfully cynical and cutting summary of the book read. Follow the links and read them at your own risk.
