I have been remiss in not mentioning this until now. My apologies to Anne and Gerry Hobbs who organise the events of the week; a big week on the calendar of many aspiring writers!
2007 sees the annual Writers' Holiday in Caerleon yet again, with UK crime fiction author Zoe Sharp teaching the crime writing course.
You can find further details on these pages: conference format; details for 2007, including all offered courses; an introduction to the venue.
The week runs from 29 July to 3 August in 2007 and costs £379 which includes much more than you'd imagine: tuition; accommodation and food; an excursion to another Welsh venue (choice included); transfers to and from the nearest railway station; an experience of Welsh male voice choral singing from the Cwmbach Male Voice Choir.
I've never been, but I have hovered on the periphery in a previous year, meeting both Anne and Gerry Hobbs (the organisers); the indomitable Welsh author Iris Gower (the guest of honour) and UK crime fiction writer Lesley Horton (who did the crime writing course that year).
It was clear to me that this particular week in the annual calendar is an "absolute must" for some and the fact it was obvious that a good time was had by all explained its obvious popularity. Such is that popularity that the organisation has spread its wings into Winter Weekends in Fishguard.
And for budding crime writers, you have Zoe Sharp in 2007.
Go on, give it a go. This is a week of writers taking their craft seriously and having a lot of fun!
