...another Welsh author and a novel of exposure of the urban landscape that is contemporary Cardiff in this case, in Dennis Lewis's "The Corrupted".
It's proving to be an eye opener in more ways than one and I aim to feature the novel before Christmas.
For the new year, I will feature:
- "Never Fear" by Scott Frost from the US - a tense and gripping page turner that can be bought now in the UK in HB or trade paperback, but will be released in mass market PB in the UK in 2007.
- "Wash This Blood Clean From My Hand" by Fred Vargas from France - my first ever Vargas read, and a later one in an established series due out in the very early new year. Wonderful stuff. I'm hooked; more later.
- "A Gentle Axe" by R.N.Morris set in Russia but written in the UK - more easily to be found on Amazon as "The Gentle Axe" for some absurd reason. Not read yet, but very looking forward to it. I'm planning to read this novel during the Christmas holiday. The cover and paper quality just lend themselves to this time...
- "By the Time You Read This" by Giles Blunt - a north American certainty, but I await UK obvious book shelf space for a link. It will come, I'm sure. Perhaps Amazon, for once, is a little behind the times? Another in a series, this looks to be a powerful addition and very good.
- "The Savage Garden" by Mark Mills - who came onto the crime writing scene with "Amagansett", latterly known on UK shelves as "The Whaleboat House". Expected soon and still to be read by me. A competition for a free first novel from Mills will follow. (I bought two titles of the same on the the same day and then got a freebie PB at Harrogate...)
2007 looks to be a good year. I hope you'll join me at the start of it and further...
"The Corrupted" sounds intriguing. Looking forward to reading your review.
