A goodbye to Kenneth Griffith, who has died at 84 years of age. He was an actor - and that phase of his life I will certainly remember. He also became a producer, hidden behind the scenes, but producing something for the screen that enlightened us, in his later years.
As an actor, he featured well, within my youth. The screen displayed its recording and someone said "That's Kenneth Griffith".
Yes, it was Kenneth Griffith. There can be no other.
Hello Mr Moxey. Thanks for leaving a comment here; a superb one at that. I understand from what I've read, that a night out with Kenneth was a tad unpredictable in his latter days, but always full of sharp honesty in his thoughts and his reflections on our contemporary political times... He had beliefs and values and was not afraid to shout them to the roof tops!
Good for him, and what a marvellous example to us younger breeds who find comfort in cowing as opposed to fighting!
I grew up hearing comments of "Ooh, that's Ken Griffith", when he was on the telly. He was a presence on screen like Stanley Baker. And then he moved on to more...
I love someone who finds it within themselves to "shout out" what they believe in, whether I wholeheartedly agree or not. KG took "free speech" to its corners, and then some.
I hope he rests in peace knowing that others will take up the baton across all his thoughts... But I also appreciate that many may find difficulty here...
In honour of his passing, I say "thoughts" not "thought"; Kenneth Griffith was the product of many, is the product of many, and he pursued all with the vigour of youth.
The University of Wales, Newport, has an arts and media school, that achieves high acclaim. Through one entrance you can see stills of reels past on the walls. I am almost 100% sure that Kenneth Griffith features there. And so he should. He was an early creative talent in respect of screen and film.
We should remember him. Bless his cotton socks, and more! He is a loss to us; a big loss.

He was an angry old man in 4 weddings, Maxine, something he was not shy of in his life apparently. As a tribute to him, Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff is screening a Kenneth Griffith season in September.

Yes, you have hit the nail on the head. I read his obit in the Times today, and he has a distinctive face: I am sure I have seen him on screen and said "that's Kenneth Griffith", as I recognised him instantly from his pic, but when I read the list of the films he'd been in, I don't think I've actually seen any. (Except 4 weddings in which he apparently had a bit part.) A sum greater than his parts?!
