I am still thrilled by PDJ and Ian Rankin's stalwart joint defence of their genre as fiction that presents an accurate reflection of contemporary society & its problems: 4 cheers to that, nope make it 6!
I sympathise about moderation, having fielded some outright nastiness and quite a bit of insensitivity on my own blog; took the damn thing out of circ for a while (gritting teeth, howling and pronouncing some Bad Words). Have so far avoided the dreaded spam ... so far!
Don't let the ******** get you down.

Thanks, Phidelm. Maxine and I don't agree on everything, e.g. she prefers it easier to make comments on a blog, but I have comment moderation on because of being spammed over the course of a week, when I was at the Hay Festival in 07. All porn and fake Viagra links. I try to reply to comments, but don't always manage it.

As for PDJ, I have heard her speak on more than one occasion and have enormous respect for the woman. I came late to reading her.

I've shared a few of your doubts about this writer; but I admire her enormously - and your review has prompted me to add this one to my (now-vast!) reading list. Thank you.
I like the way you've kept this site so friendly and user-friendly, as has Maxine over at Petrona. It's very refreshing in a blogosphere that seems so often to veer from the extremes of vilification and smug self-congratulation.

Thanks Kerrie!

I enjoyed this, and I liked your review. I have linked to mine.
