Having won this in the competition last year (which I still, unforgivably, haven't said thank you properly for) I had the unfair advantage of reading this before a lot of other folk.

It's a genuinely good piece of work, and even if I'm not quite as gushing about it as cfr here, it comfortably passes the "am I bored yet" test. It's also nice to see it being pushed pretty aggressively - big stack of them as airport exclusives in Gatwick North last Friday.

Yep. I offered a proof as an "early read" in a comp last year and in my end of year review it was my tip-off for a biggie in 2009.
Just got my hands on The Coroner by M R Hall, but a couple to read before then... Looking forward to it.

You've written before about this book, I think? Anyway, certainly a must-read! I have read Burial by Neil Cross now and that is pretty hot stuff too. Currently enjoying The Coroner by M Hall.
