More positive views on Bad Traffic from Simon Lewis...

I was more than happy to see these reviews come up on Eurocrime today for Simon Lewis's Bad Traffic: here and hereI loved it and you can get your copy now at this link...

It's Simon's launch into crime fiction and what a launch!  Don't miss it, whatever you do!  Is crime fiction more than just a crime story?  Is it also a social commentary for our times?  Is it entertaining?  Does it have depth and make you think?  Yes.  In answer to all questions.  Simon Lewis further enhances the genre here.

He also has a lovely twist in Bad Traffic: the UK is seen through the eyes of more than one Chinese man - aliens.  And in these dark days of so-called BBC comedy, it's about time we held up a mirror to ourselves and sought the opinion of others on the world stage.   We are not what we used to be and if we cannot see ourselves as others see us, then we cannot see our true selves.

Simon was at the Hay Festival earlier this year, but the eclipsing name on the crime and thriller front was that of Tom Rob Smith for Child 44.  Where Tom Rob Smith also brings a depth to the genre, so does Simon Lewis.  But in Lewis's case, he brings home the prize for plot, in my opinion.  Where both command an exemplary and authoritative outlook on culture in their chosen time and place for setting, Lewis grabs and twists our "here and now", like it or not, and to make us turn on our navels.  And you may well not chose to read; as it's a dark place, full of malice and manipulation.  But this is the world we live in, in the UK, here today.  To understand us better you can do no better than to read Bad Traffic and within that you will find a very entertaining, fast-paced story.  I loved it (while also hating some of what I read - the world is just too unfair and ugly).

Great that the hype for Child 44 propelled it to the bestsellers, but Bad Traffic has been overlooked.

Get your mitts on Bad Traffic from Simon Lewis and let word of mouth be your guide.  If happy and impressed, do your own word of mouth gush forward.

Happy reading!
