I've been reading two sites which I find both very interesting and quite fun. Both are also linked with my time at the Harrogate Festival this year.
I met Chris High in Harrogate, as it happens. He's a freelance writer. His site has book, movie and music reviews as well as his own short stories and much more. Chris is currently trying to persuade me to read "Killing the Beasts" by Chris Simms, which he read in one day and found so remarkable that he read it again very shortly afterwards. (Now that's what I call "being dead impressed".) He's reviewed the book on his site.
I became aware of Mr Keith B Walters last year, when he did a write up of the Crime Writing Masterclass at the London Book Fair (with Peter Guttridge, Minette Walters and Mark Billingham). Keith's write up made its way onto Minette's own site and not because they are related - they're not.

Anyway, Keith is blaming me and author John Rickards for the inspiration for his new blog:

I particularly like the humour threaded through his posts! He also has a Harrogate 2005 write up.
Keith finds John's blogs linked to his website "...surreal and hilarious in equal measure..."

And talking of Minette, I received her August newsletter which includes a competition to win one of 10 signed proof copies of her new book "The Devil's Feather" to be published on 8 September. The books will go to "good homes". I'd say very worthy homes actually. You have to answer 10 questions - very tough questions, covering 10 of her books. Now, I've read all her books, but some of them as much as thirteen years ago, so I really don't have a clue. Those books will really be going to good and worthy homes, I tell you...
